Director Lee Rainie presented findings from Pew Internet about the role of the internet, cell phones, and social media on civic life at the conference of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). He noted that those who use social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube for political and civic purposes are much more engaged with offline civic activities and more satisfied with their communities.
