Tagging, blogging, and social networking sites allow internet users to search for, catalog, and disseminate information. Older technologies like email and instant messaging enable internet users to keep in touch with larger circles of friends and acquaintances. Our research shows that people turn to their networks of friends and contacts when they have a big decision to make, including health decisions. In addition to presenting general population survey data, this slide set also includes data on people living with disability or chronic disease.
