Rural areas lagging in broadband Internet

'"The number of residents living in rural parts of the country who have high-speed Internet access at home has more than doubled over the past two years, a new study by the Pew Internet and American Life Project reports.
By the end of 2005, 24 percent of rural Americans had broadband Internet service at home, compared to 9 percent in 2003, according to the study, which surveyed 5,262 Americans from September through December of last year.
In cities and suburbs, 39 percent of Americans had broadband at home by late 2005, up from 22 percent two years earlier, the Pew project found."
