'“Alongside the highway or on the information superhighway, women are still more likely to ask for driving directions than men, according to both the old adage and a new study on Web usage.

Eighty-seven percent of women who use the Internet turn to the Web for directions and maps, compared with 82 percent of men who are online - a statistically significant difference, according to a report released yesterday by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, which researches the impact of the Internet. The findings were part of a larger update on how different genders and groups are using the Web.

” Women are the ones who ask directions and men are the ones who never stop to ask directions, so they do it online as well," said Deborah Fallows, senior research fellow at Pew.”

Many news sites move articles into data bases after a period of time and then offer them for sale, in the process changing the URLs that link to them. Or they require registration. Thus, we provide a link to the front page of the news website and the information necessary to find the story on that site, rather than a direct link to the article.
