'According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, 26 percent of adults 65 and older use the Internet. That figure is a significant increase from 15 percent in 2000, when the center first started conducting research on wired seniors. Although more older adults are using the Internet, there is still a large percentage that lives far removed from the wired world, said Susannah Fox, associate director of the Washington, D.C.-based organization. Fox said most of the growth comes from younger seniors who were introduced to the Internet in the work force and retain the computer know-how as they age. "It's not that people in their 80s and 90s are flocking online," said Fox.
