'"When researchers at the Pew Internet and American Life Project released their latest report yesterday on Internet use by teens, they must have been thinking about Mitch Ross, 15, and his older sister, Maxine, 16, of Mt. Lebanon.
The Rosses embody just about every aspect of this study's findings, which report, not surprisingly, that nearly nine out of 10 American teens now use the Internet, an increase of 24 percent since 2000.
The Ross teens are among the vast majority of American youths. An estimated 21 million, or 87 percent of the teen population, compared with 66 percent of all adults, use the Internet. About half of those teens go online each day, according to Amanda Lenhart, senior research specialist at Pew, which not only looked at Internet use but at all communication technologies used by teens, from laptops to cell phones to personal digital devices."
Many news sites move articles into data bases after a period of time and then offer them for sale, in the process changing the URLs that link to them. Or they require registration. Thus, we provide a link to the front page of the news website and the information necessary to find the story on that site, rather than a direct link to the article.
