Internet users adapt to spam

4/11/2005 | CoverageCoverage

Clint Swett, The Sacramento Bee, Business

'"As with other everyday annoyances such as air pollution, traffic congestion and high gas prices, Americans appear to be increasingly tolerant of spam.

According to a new survey, fewer Internet users are irritated by junk e-mail than a year ago, even though they report getting more of it.

About 67 percent of computer users say spam has made being online unpleasant or annoying, compared with 77 percent a year ago, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Project's survey, released Sunday."

NOTE:Many news sites move articles into data bases after a period of time and then offer them for sale, in the process changing the URLs that link to them. Or they require registration. Thus, we provide a link to the front page of the news website and the information necessary to find the story on that site, rather than a direct link to the article.
