'The Internet also is a key channel for the social relationships of students. When they use the Internet, more than 70 percent of students' communication is with friends, for social purposes. Almost three-quarters of the students check e-mail at least once a day. About one in five college students say they have formed a relationship online before meeting someone in person. The bottom line is that college students turn to the Internet to learn, obtain information, collaborate, listen to music, travel, view videos, socialize and meet new people. That's a large chunk of their lives.
