Voters use e-mail in contacting politicians

'A national survey of local elected officials shows that e-mail is becoming an important means of communication between voters and public officials. Nearly nine in 10 of the elected officials surveyed said they use e-mail in performance of their public duties. Seventy-nine percent of the mayors, council members and other local officials said they have received e-mail from individual citizens or groups, according to the survey released by the Pew Internet and American Life Project and the National League of Cities. Twenty-five percent said they receive e-mail from constituents every day.
