Online banking experiences growth, pains; Concerns remain for consumers

'Younger customers have helped fuel online banking's rapid growth so far, said Susannah Fox, research director at the Pew Internet project. The survey, taken in September, shows that 10 percent of Internet users typically bank online every day. The convenience of online banking was cited as the chief reason for its popularity. "People want to pay their parking tickets online. People want to send their party invitations online," Fox said. "For fun and for work, people are using the Internet to get things done faster, and banking is part of that picture."
