The U.S. is increasingly becoming a smartphone society.
Fully 35% of all American adults now own a smartphone, according to a new study by the
Pew Internet and American Life Project. Of this number, 78% use their devices to access the Internet daily, and a quarter do most of their online activities on their phones. This is the first time Pew has studied smartphones in this way, but
other surveys at this time last year showed smartphone ownership rates of about 20%.
