Broadband is fast gaining broad acceptance. More than half the Internet users in the USA have speedy connections somewhere in their lives. So says a survey of 2,200 Americans over 18, released today by the non-profit Pew Internet & American Life Project. … Impatience is the leading reason most Net users have left dial- up connections in the dust. Nearly six in 10 Pew respondents found dial-up too slow or frustrating or said it took too long to download files. Just 3% switched because broadband has become more affordable.
