Poll Database Search Tips

  • Print

The Pew Internet & American Life Project Poll Database can be searched by entering combinations of words and phrases and/or searching within topic areas.

Please note that only basic results are included in the database. Detailed demographic results, such as a comparison of age groups, can only be found in our reports, presentations, or infographics.

Some tips:

Keep your searches simple. Only questions that include all of your search terms in the question wording are returned. For example, a search for how many internet users have high-speed internet access at home may produce no results, but a search for broadband will find the right items.

You may also use the wildcard (%) symbol to expand your search (i.e., a search for gam% would return all questions that contain words beginning with gam, including games, gaming, etc.)

If you are looking for an exact phrase, simply put quotation marks around your search terms.

We hope this database is a starting point for your exploration of our research. As always, if you can’t find what you are looking for in the poll database or in our site search, please contact us.
